• Character Name: Alice Baskerville (Black)
• Age: 13
• Canon (Date/Year Released)/Canon Point: Pandora Hearts (2006), post final death but before epilogue reincarnation.
• Items Coming Along: 6 items only. Does she even OWN six items? She has clothes? Classic outfit with the long coat, the red dress she wears to the opera, the fancy dress she wears to the Worst Party, the school uniform she wore while sneaking into the school, the maid's dress (not to be confused with any french maid omake content this is just a plain dark dress and a little cap), dress from Sablier's that is technically her sisters and also has her old red blood all over it because she died in it. This is all completely unnecessary but I think it is extremely funny for her to wash up with a whole wardrobe.
• Content Warnings for Character: Violence, suicide.
Character Background
• History:
Wiki link!
• Core Relationships:
Alice Baskerville: The other one, that is. They shared a body for most of their lives, then tore each other apart and became enemies. It's complicated. She hated the other Alice for quite a while for opposing her goal of getting her memories back and also trying to get her killed a few times, but at the end, very quickly forgave her and fulfilled her greatest wish with a smile. Which is to say, she killed her. Going out on one's own terms is a big thing in this series.
Oz Vessalius: The beloved stuffed toy left in the Abyss by her mother. She's always liked to chew on Oz and cling onto him for comfort and that does not change much when he's in a human body. Making Oz upset for real is one of the fastest ways to get Alice out for blood, as far as she is concerned he belongs to her and nobody else gets to mess with him. She calls him her servant and makes a big jealous fuss over how he should be putting her first, which is absolutely sincere on her part, but the flip side of this is that she also feels a deep sense of loyalty towards him.
Oswald "Glen" Baskerville: Her beloved uncle who did his best to raise her. Or, uh. He did not do his best. He made an attempt. She didn't have much other human contact and delighted in his visits to her room. Oz is named after him because she could not spell very well as a small child, and she copies his blunt way of speaking. In most of of the non-flashback contact they are trying to kill each other. Alice has amnesia and Oswald being in someone else's body as an excuse. Oswald's excuse is that he's an absolute mess who prioritizes the greater good above not murdering beloved family members. He killed Alice's mom and has a lot of feelings about it and Alice did not pick up on any of this because she learns about social skills from this sad guilty man who spoils her rotten.
Jack Vessalius: Oh boy, what a tool. He doesn't put up with any of her usual bullshit and she doesn't put up with any of his, so there's a personality conflict from the start. Also, he ruined her life and the lives of everyone else above him on this core relationships list. She is pretty reactive with him, it is not a playful animosity and when she has actively deduced that he is present and causing a problem, she consistently tries to attack him without warning. Bantering and boasting may follow, sure, but this is somebody she doesn't want to be around and would like to leave as soon as possible.
Gilbert Baskerville: Oz's loyal servant is obviously her loyal servant via transitive properties. They were absolutely horrible to each other as children, which she has since forgiven him for and also not apologized for on her part on the grounds that this was in the past. Alice lives in the moment and respects the Gilbert who has grown up and fought for what he believes in. And more importantly, he feeds her. They bicker constantly and call each other names but when the chips are down, they're in each other's corner.
Character Personality Through Key Moments
(2+) Positive Experiences:
1. At the start of the penultimate arc - Alice is still quite possessive and bossy but she's grown into it and is quite proactive. Oz has most of the rabbit powers now, Alice herself has approximately jack shit, and she still peels off to face Echo one-on-one. We do not actually see the fight but she didn't lose which is pretty impressive. The key thing about this moment is that she tells Oz not to use his rabbit powers - this is a whole thing they do like at least four times over the series, holding each other back. This one is cool for a number of reasons. Alice showing confidence in Gilbert and Oz's ability to survive on their own versus the Jabberwock, Alice showing basic pattern recognition and realizing that Oz always gets super upset in situations where he has to pull out the scythe and/or fight his friends (while still not remembering the big one), Alice recognizing that Oz is absolutely going to overdo it and drop himself into the Abyss one of these days and taking steps to step in... It's bold, risky, and thoughtful all at once. Bold and risky is nothing new, but there's a lovely solidity to her absolutely massive attitude that comes of having been through a large amount of experiences outside her tower and knowing what she and other people can handle.
2. One of the most positive(??) Alice moments is right at the start of the final arc. The apocalypse has started up again, one of the kindest and most supportive people to the protagonist has been killed, the main trio has been reunited again, resident asshole mentor Xerxes Break has been incredibly beat all to shit and can barely fight. Things are amazingly tense. Alice proceeds to kick a hole in the tension by cheerfully bursting into Break's room and declaring intent to beat the stuffing out of him while he can't fight back. It is an intense distraction from the heavy mood as the rest of those present, most being Oscar's close friends and family, either wrestle Alice away from the sickroom or point and laugh at the people doing the first thing. This is something that ties in with one of her below negative traits - she does what she wants when she wants to and does not think too much about consequences. This gives her incredible mental fortitude. When she's moving with people and forcing them to react to her and include her in her bullshit rather than looking in from the outside, she is much happier. While this is also what might be called a dick move, this is exactly the kind of dick move that her group of friends is comfortable with and shows her progress in bonding with the group, it is so much more of a playfight thing than a similar ambush she launched in the very early series, which was a serious threat based on her not trusting anyone there, this is her having fun with people and not truly seriously minding being thwarted. She's not mature enough to be lightening up the mood on purpose, she is in fact being a brat here, but it's a cute scene because she feels secure in being a brat and acting out.
(2+) Negative Experiences:
cw: suicide
1. During the Tragedy of Sablier, Alice became aware of the massive interdimensional quake and also her best buddy having a screaming meltdown over being forced to do murders. The other Alice wouldn't tell her anything, so she immediately came to the conclusion that Jack was involved. Instead of leaving her tower or going to find a trusted adult, she put on her sister's dress and waited for an extremely dangerous man to come into her room and spill enough information to pin it on him. After getting a confirmation that he was indeed behind these events, she quickly broke character to gloat about fooling him and demanded more information. When she proved to be of no personal help to Jack, he shoved her down and tried to strangle her in order to get the useful Alice to show up. She then stabbed him with a pair of scissors left within range (not planned, just a messy room), and was at a standoff. However, the other Alice became very pushy about wanting to see Jack, so Alice considered what would happen if she did - she'd help him make Oz continue to kill people - and that would have caused Oz no end of unhappiness, so in order to protect him, and also to stop this horrible man from playing with her toys, bravely, but crying, she rammed the scissors straight into her throat. Alice does whatever she wants with her own immediate goals in mind, even if there's a selfless element there it is DEFINITELY about what she wants, because as you can imagine Oz was also very upset about the fallout from this. She does not think about long term consequences particularly well, preventing the apocalypse for reasons like "I live in this world" did not cross her mind for a moment in this case, what was important was protecting one (1) sapient stuffed animal, and also spite.
2. During the amnesia period. After going on an refreshingly silly and death-free adventure with her new friends to reclaim a lost hat, she took a look at them laughing and having fun and joking around in the sunlight and felt a lot of feelings all at once and sulked off to sit in an alleyway be upset that she didn't have any friends or family of her own. She was then abducted into a side dimension with an offensively gregarious man and responded to friendly gestures and being given a scarf by hissing and spitting like a maniac and trying to rip the scarf to bits. She didn't know exactly what she wanted, but it was not that... What she wanted does turn out to have someone reach out to her. A lot of the people in her canon are various types of sad lonely people who want to be acknowledged by others and her edition of this is that she isn't going to settle for just anyone, she will pick out her own people.
Deer Country Attributes
• Canon Powers: She has her vaguely defined link to the Abyss, which probably doesn't exist per se around Trench, and she's a Baskerville, so she might have a longer lifespan.
• Blood Type: Darkblood
• Omen: Rasselbock! As per omen shifting, it could be a cute little Beatrix Potter looking little creature with a little coat to a menacing antler horror. Raspy.
• Blessed Day: May 18th
• Patron Pthumerian: Baus.
• Blood Power Manifestation: Spatial powers! I want to have her fight with a scythe on a chain and be able to have her move the chains around at will, kind of like her mom used to do, and I want to have her mess around with gravity so she can do some absolutely wild parkour moves and kicks.

PHYSICAL AFFECTION: Yes! On Alice's end, she is a very physical person and will lean on people she likes and tackle them and demand headpats like she's a goddamn cat.
PHYSICAL VIOLENCE: Yes! Alice is also quite a violent person, as per genre convention she gets into a lot of showy scuffles and physical damage only happens when it's, like, dramatically convenient.
ROMANCE/FLIRTING: Yes, at the romancer's own peril. She is extremely bossy and possessive, and she bites.
SEXUAL CONTENT: Talking to her about these matters is on the table. Actual junk interaction is completely off the table on the grounds that she's like thirteen and has had a completely irresponsible education vis a vis where babies actually come from. Be warned that if she sees a penis she WILL have rude opinions about it.
PSYCHIC ABILITIES: Sure! With the caveat that due to canon aesthetic and circumstances Alice's head is kind of scrambled if you really wanna poke around in there.
MAGIC/POWERS: I honestly don't entirely understand this question! Give me a heads up if it's something super invasive like turning her inside out or freezing her solid I guess!
MEDICAL INFORMATION: Sure! Alice herself is somehow in excellent health despite all of the bullshit she goes through.
OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS OR TRIGGERS: Content your character may be offensive with or offended by. Things they might be triggered by.
Ohhhhh boy.
> First up Alice has canonically committed suicide (due to an absolutely bonkers situation that would not come up in real life) and would absolutely do it again if she was worried about being used to harm loved ones, especially if she became aware that death doesn't stick. The dissociative trauma flashbacks are mostly over with now that she has her memories more or less intact but cutting her throat specifically is going to make her flip out. I mean, it would probably be bad for anyone but it's definitely a specific trigger for Alice.
> Absolutely RIFE with abandonment issues.
> She has personally done several murders in her state as an amnesiac child ghost and is not sorry about any of them.
> She isn't above eating just about anything offered. Probably won't do any cannibalism but can and will bite hard enough to draw blood.
>She's not particularly aware of appropriate behavior or personal space. This does come off as sultry bad girl stuff to the sheltered fourteen year old protagonist at first but she is simply very poorly socialized.
> Her parents had a messed up child grooming situation going on between them. Alice does not know about it and I doubt it will come up but this feels like something that should be known.
> There was an unhealthy imprisonment of children and animal mutilation going on in the Baskerville household. In order to become head of the household you need to kill at least one relative and also watch as your predecessor dies slowly and turns into a weird monster. Alice has zero reference point for a well adjusted family, and when she runs into moments that make her go "oh, this wasn't normal" she might choose to live in the moment or she might get upset. She's a kid, she's processing it.

BACKTAGGING: This is my bread and butter.
FOURTH WALLING: Given Pandora Hearts lore you can straight up do this and she will brush it off as an Abyss thing. Her entire canon is an extended Alice in Wonderland reference from top to bottom.
THREADHOPPING: Sure, but give me a heads up first.

ANYTHING ELSE: There is an onomatopoeia for shushing. Don't write it out in threads with me, please. I will skip/skim any tags with it written in but requiring a warning for something this fiddly and obscure seems a little much.
